Elizabeth Whitener was the oldest of nine children of John B. Whitener and Sarah Weaver. Her siblings were Solomon, Andrew, Abel, Maria M., Jonas, Anna, Hannah, and Levi. Elizabeth never married.

Will of Elizabeth "Betsey" Whitener

I, Betsy Whitener, of the county of Catawba and state of North Carolina being of sound mind, memory, and understanding praise be God for the same do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following.

1st I give devise and bequeath unto Abel Whitener, Sen. and Margaret Plantina Whitener two beds and steds (sic) two wheels large and small and all other personal property belonging to me of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all and every other will and testament in witness whereof I the said Betsy Whitener, have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 10th day of April. 1882.

Signed declared and published by the above named Betsy Whitener as for her last will and testament in the presence of us who at her request and in presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

The execution of the foregoing paper writing was this the 3rd day of June 1882 duly proved before us by the oath and examination of Abel Whitener, J. P., Marcus Barger, and Jno W. Sublet subscribing witnesses thereto, admitted to probate as the last will and testament of Betsey Whitener and recorded.
