Ralph Boyer was the son of John and Sophia Boyer. He attended elementary school at Christ Lutheran School in Oak Park, Illinois, and then Morton High School in Cicero (a suburb of Berwyn). Additionally, he attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota for three years and later graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois in June of 1955.
While serving a vicarage at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, Minnesota, he met and later married Jean Marie Jenkins, on July 9, 1955. To this marriage were born four children, Jeffrey, Douglas, Elizabeth, and Steve. (Jean passed away on January 9, 2002.)
Ralph was ordained and installed into the Lutheran ministry at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Yakima, Washington on July 31, 1955. He later served various Lutheran Congregations in Ormsby, Sandstone, Hinckley, Brainerd, and Giese, Minnesota until his retirement from the active ministry.
The funeral service for Ralph was held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giese, Minnesota. The graveside service was conducted at Immanuel Lutheran cemetery in Giese, Aitkin County, Minnesota.
