DOW H. FREDAY

Dow H. Freday, 78, of 2 Canal street, Fort Plain, died suddenly at his home Monday morning. Born Oct. 25, 1897, in Johnstown, he was a son of Homer and Minnie Nestell Freday and had been a resident of the Fort Plain area for over 70 years. He was employed as a retail sales clerk in local stores, retiring in 1973 after 16 years with Nathan Samuels, Inc. in Fort Plain. Freday was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fort Plain and 50-year member of Fort Plain Lodge No. 433, F. and A.M. He also was a member of Hiram Union Chapter No. 53, Royal Arch Masons, Canajoharie, Little Falls Commandery. No. 26, Knights Templar, Little Falls, and Ziyara Temple, AAONMS, Utica. Ho is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carole Neureuther, Plattsburgh, and Mrs. Karen D'Arcangelis, Salisbury Center; a sister, Mrs. Leah Watkins, Fort Plain, with whom he resided; four grandchildren, and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Swartz Funeral Home, Fort Plain, with the Rev. Andrew B. Currier, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Fort Plain, officiating. Interment will be made in Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon and evening. Masonic services will be held at the late home Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital.
