Son of John and Abigail Tobin. Husband of Anna M Bates. Enlisted at Lincoln Aug 22, 1861 at age 21 as a sergeant into Co C 7th Maine Infantry Regiment. POW May 6, 1864 at battle of Wilderness, VA. Transferred Aug 21, 1864 out, and into Co C 1st Maine Veteran Infantry. Mustered out Sept 5, 1864.
