In May 1940 Dick J Schoon (59, truck driver at state highway), his wife Winifred (59), their children Lambert (31, recorder at steel mills), Clara Mae (22, stenographer at steel mills) and James R (7, Indiana) were living at an own home, worth $4000, at Route 2, [near Gary], Lake County, Indiana. In 1935 they lived in the same house.
Dick Schoon, residing in Boone Grove, Porter County, close to the southern shore of Michigan Lake, Indiana, died in April 1968 at the age of 87 years at Porter Memorial hospital. His widow Winifred died in June 1971 in Lake County, Indiana at the age of 90 years.

DICK J. SCHOON BOONE GROVE J. Schoon, 87, longtime resident of Boone Grove, died Thursday at Porter Memorial hospital. A member of the Merrillville Methodist church, he is survived by his wife Winifred, two sons, Edward of Trenton Mich., Lambert, Ore City, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. George (Ethel) Struble, Boone Grove Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Myers and Mrs. Walter (Clarmae) Piegat, both of Merrillville; seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; one brother, J.J. Schoon, Gary; and one sister, Mrs. Delia Oms, Griffith.
Services will be held Monday at the Merrilville Methodist church with the Revs. James Burroughs and Randall Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Calumet Park cemetery, Merrilville.
