In June 1900 Dick (19 years old, born in February 1881 in Indiana) his father Jacob Schoon (75, February 1825, Netherlands, immigrated in 1865, farmer), his mother Henrietta (59, February 1841, Netherlands, immigrated in 1865, mother of 1 deceased and 11 living children), his siblings Abraham (20, January 1880, Indiana), Delia (23, October 1877, Indiana), and Henry (15, May 1885, Indiana) were living at an own farm in Calumet Township, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana. Right next to them uncle Simon Schoon (October 1869, Indiana, farmer) was living at a rented farm with his wife Lena (September 1873, Netherlands) and their children Hattie (3), Mary (1) and Jacob (4 months), all born in Indiana.

In 1910 Dick J Schoon (29, Indiana), his wife Winifred (29, Holland, immigrated in 1895), their sons Edward D (4, Indiana) and Lambert D (2, Indiana) were living in Calumet Township, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana.

In 1920 Dick J Schoon (38), his wife Winifred (38), their children Edward D (14) Lambert V (12), Ethel A (8, Indiana), Ruth H (3, Indiana) and Clara M (1, Indiana) were living in Ross, Lake County, Indiana.

Dick and Win had six children: Five "biologically": Edward, Lambert, Ethel, Ruth, and Clarmae (originally Clara May). One adopted, James Richard.

In 1930 Dick J Schoon (49), his wife Winifred (49), their children Edward (24), Ethel (18), Ruth (13) and Claramae (11) wer still living in Ross, Lake County, Indiana.

In May 1940 Dick J Schoon (59, truck driver at state highway), his wife Winifred (59), their children Lambert (31, recorder at steel mills), Clara Mae (22, stenographer at steel mills) and James R (7, Indiana) were living at an own home, worth $4000, at Route 2, [near Gary], Lake County, Indiana. In 1935 they lived in the same house.

Dick Schoon, residing in Boone Grove, Porter County, close to the southern shore of Michigan Lake, Indiana, died in April 1968 at the age of 87 years at Porter Memorial hospital. His widow Winifred died in June 1971 in Lake County, Indiana at the age of 90 years.

DICK J. SCHOON BOONE GROVE J. Schoon, 87, longtime resident of Boone Grove, died Thursday at Porter Memorial hospital. A member of the Merrillville Methodist church, he is survived by his wife Winifred, two sons, Edward of Trenton Mich., Lambert, Ore City, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. George (Ethel) Struble, Boone Grove Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Myers and Mrs. Walter (Clarmae) Piegat, both of Merrillville; seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; one brother, J.J. Schoon, Gary; and one sister, Mrs. Delia Oms, Griffith.
Services will be held Monday at the Merrilville Methodist church with the Revs. James Burroughs and Randall Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Calumet Park cemetery, Merrilville.
