DE SOTO -- David Michael Church, 67, of De Soto, formerly of New Jersey, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

David was born on Dec. 26, 1946, in Decatur, to Glenn and Jean Eileen (Drake) Church.

He married Judith Ann Alparone on Aug. 7, 1978 in Denver, Colorado. She survives of De Soto.

He worked as a diesel mechanic for McBride Mac in Carbondale for 20 years. David was a Christian and an excellent provider for his family. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family at home and working on and around his house. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include father, Glenn Church of Gibson City; wife, Judy Church of De Soto; two daughters, Diana McClow and husband, Brian of Hampton, New Jersey and Sara Jean Church of De Soto; five grandchildren, Cara Elizabeth D’Aiello and Francis Michael D’Aiello of Monroe, New Jersey and Gina Marie Wagley, Lara Ann Wagley, Ellasandra Wagley, all of De Soto; mother-in-law, Ella M. Arrington of De Soto; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Amsler of Citrus Hills, Florida and William Amsler of Roebling, New Jersey; two nephews; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Gregory Church.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Jason McKinnies officiating. Private inurnment will be in De Soto Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
