He was born on June 2, 1934 in Guilford County to Solomon Chester and Daisy Myrtle Whitesell Craven.
He was a truck driver and a member of Harmony Memorial Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for over 40 years. He loved attending car shows with his son Matt but he was happiest when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Craven was preceded in death by his wife, Julia G. Craven; and siblings, Lee, Harvey, Jack, Frances, and Peggy.
Surviving are his daughter of Thomasville, and son of Winston-Salem; stepchildren of High Point, brothers, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Moody officiating. Burial will be at Guilford Memorial Park.
