Alpha had worked at Ainsbrooke for 30 years and later worked in Dietary at Carmi Hospital for 10 years. She loved to cook for all of her kids and grandkids; then after that they played cards. She was a member of Enfield General Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Lonnie Hankins of Carmi, Iva Dinwiddie, and Alpha’s son-in-law, Henry Dinwiddie of Enfield, Linda Sandusky of Carmi and Kathy Fleck of Enfield; 7 grandchildren, Lewis and Brian Hankins, Lisa Quartana, Gordon Fleck, Phillip Sandusky, Jim and Kathy Sue Dinwiddie; great-grandchildren, Will, Isabel and Maggie Quartana, Branden and Trinity Hankins, Nicholas and Christoper Hankins, Abbey Fleck and Angelica Dinwiddie; one sister, Agnes Metcalf of LaPorte, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Frank Newman and two sisters, Viola Gunter and Reba Williams.
