He married Dorothy Elizabeth Law Young August 1, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois and they were the parents of three children, Margaret (Stanley), Lynn (Weston) and Matthew D. He was first employed on the family farm in Minnesota and then as a truck driver for a corn syrup sales company in Naperville in the 1930’s. He was later employed by the Kroehler Furniture Manufacturing Company as a dispatcher until his retirement in 1965. He was raised a Master Mason October 20, 1942. He died December 23, 1983 in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County, California. Burial location unknown.
