David was born David Scott Kreger on March 6, 1956 in Mineola, Nassau County, New York. He was welcomed by his parents, Goldie (Gertrude Salzman) and Bernard Kreger (of the Kreger Trucking Company, Brooklyn, NY) and 2 older brothers Jeffrey Marc and Ronald Leslie.
Bernard passed away when David was only 4; it was a great loss for him. David’s mother met and married Jacob “Jack” Patascher, who adopted David and his brothers. Soon they were joined by baby brother, Barry Charles as well as a stepbrother Steven Patascher.

David was brought up in Plainedge/Levittown, Long Island, NY. He attended Stokes Elementary school, Island Trees Jr. high and graduated Island Trees High school in 1974. David was a licensed mechanic at the age of 17.

David was a talented and accomplished guitar player and pool player. He also attended Israel Community Center, making his Bar Mitzvah there. David was a boyscout for many years. A tree at Sagamore Hill bares his and another scout’s initials that were carved in as young scouts.

After high school, David attended Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY. He studied business, but never received a degree.

David met Tammy Lee Fox, the love of his life, in 1974 and in September of that year they became a couple. They were married in a garden wedding on July 2, 1978 at his parent’s home in Plainedge. David and Tammy had 2 children, Jeremy Thomas (1977) and Jennifer Dawn (1979). They lived in Bellmore and Shirley before purchasing their first home in Massapequa in June of 1979. They lived in this home until June of 1987 when they moved to Spring Hill, Florida.

David was a self-made millionaire having started out with nothing and working many jobs – at a gas station as a young teenager, U-Do-It, Lakeville Industries, Harris Caterers, the Bellmore-Merrick School District and others. Dave’s first break came when he started his first company, Dajon Alarms. Dajon Alarms was a security system business serving the greater New York area. This business was a great success and was eventually sold when David and family moved to Florida. In Florida David started a new business in Oct 1987 – Oasis Pools, Inc... This business thrived for 27 years serving all of West Central Florida. Oasis was named one of the largest swimming pool builders in the area. Oasis Pools, Inc. brought David a great reputation as an honorable and prolific contractor. He was licensed in the field of residential construction for the state of Florida.

David and Tammy’s children grew up and gave them 5 grandchildren- Jordan Thomas, Justin David, Angelica Dawn, Leonard Seth and Samantha Leigh. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved spending time with them at Fun Spot, going out to eat and attending their activities.

Among David’s favorite things to do when he wasn’t busy working were- playing roulette and gambling at the Hard Rock, Atlantis or Beau Rivage. He loved to go to New Orleans for beignets and a walk along the beach in Hilton Head, North Carolina. David was a bit of a foodie and enjoyed trying new restaurants and foods, his favorites being Indian and Thai. David also enjoyed movies, especially at the Cinebistro. His favorite movie was Rockie. Most of all he liked spending time with his very large extended family – Aunts, Uncles, cousins, siblings, nieces, nephews, etc. There were always pool parties, BBQ’s and holiday dinners at his estate home. The most popular activity was the annual Easter egg hunt with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Where ever David was, Tammy was always by his side for almost 40 years. In July, 2003 on their 25th anniversary they shared their love with family by renewing their wedding vows on the Disney Wonder.

David was a selfless person, always thinking of and helping others. He volunteered for a number of charities and helped many in his community. He will be missed by all that knew him.
