Lima Jean Howard, 76, of Marshall died on Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Battle Creek Manor.
Jean was born on January 1, 1938 in Hueyville, Kentucky to Samuel and Alice (Shepherd) Wright. She attended school in Kentucky and in Northern Ohio. On March 11, 1961 she married Donald Howard in Ruggles, Ohio.
Jean worked for several years at Ralston Foods in Battle Creek. She also worked for Corning Glass and Battle Creek Equipment. Jean was a member of the Grace Freewill Baptist Church in Albion and a founding member of their Ladies Outreach Auxiliary. Jean enjoyed cooking and baking. Her apple cake and her decorating birthday and wedding cakes will be missed by all that enjoyed them. Jean also enjoyed painting, flower arranging, and reading. Her faith was a strong part of her life and the past few years she had enjoyed singing and writing praise and worship songs.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, of Marshall; children Larry (Sandy) Howard of Battle Creek and Anita Falene Howard of Marshall; grandchildren, Heidi (Ryan) Strunk and Travis Howard; great-grandchildren, Ryider and Hadlee Strunk; six siblings; and her beloved dog Jake.
Visitation will take place at the Craig Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel, 723 US 27 North Marshall on Sunday August 31, 2014 from 3-6pm with family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 12noon on Monday September 1, 2014 at the Craig Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel with her sister, Mrs. Sharon Kilgore and her brother, Mr. tom Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery. Family will gather with friends following the committal services at the Kempf Funeral Home Marshall Chapel Reception Hall. Memorial contributions are requested to the Feed the Children or the Calhoun County Relay for Life. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Funeral Home.
