CHARLES BATSON, 74, of Angleton passed away on Friday September 5, 2014 in Galveston, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Angleton. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Palms.
Charles was born October 5, 1939 in Normangee, Texas to Charlie R. & Alda Belle (Guinn) Batson and was an Angleton resident for 56 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was owner & operator of Angleton Amusement Company for 51 years.
Charles was very active in the community. He was a lifetime member of the Brazoria County Fair Assoc., where he enjoyed helping with 4-H kids. Charles coached the “Roadrunners” girls softball team. He was a member and Past Master of Angleton Lodge #829 A.F. & A.M where he received the Golden Trowel Award in 2013 that was sanctioned by the Grand Lodge of Texas. Charles was a longtime supporter and member of the Boy Scouts and was Scout Master for troop 513. He received Scouting’s Silver Beaver Award and in 2014 was awarded the Golden Eagle Award.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Francine Batson of Angleton
Sons; Steve Batson of Normangee & David Batson & wife Shelley of College Station.
Daughter, Camille Collins & husband Roger of Angleton
Sisters; Glenda Wyatt of Conroe, Maudene Cole & husband James of Leona
Brother; Melvin Batson & wife Brenda of Normangee.
5-Grandchildren; James Collins, Charles Collins & wife Kimberly, Ashley Grandchamp & husband Bruce, Steven Batson & Brynn Batson. 3-Great-Grandchildren; Luke & Seth Collins and Addison Grandchamp.
