Son of George McCowen and Rhoda Pickering.

Cemetery survey from 1964 stated he died on March 10, 1851 at the age of 2 y 9 m 5 d. However, he is not seen with his parents in the 1850 census. It is possible that the surveyor misread the headstone and that he died in 1854 instead of 1851. This would make his birth date June 5, 1851.
