Son of Carl Frank Kerdje (1881-1941) and Edith Caroline Harig (1892-1993), who later divorced. On 31 Dec 1929, Edith married the widower Montrose Beckman (1868-1945), who shortly after their marriage adopted Ralph and his older brother Carl Arthur Kerdje. Ralph and his brother used their adopted surname Beckwith throughout their lives.

Ralph A. Beckwith, 45, Phoenix, Ariz., former resident of Beech Grove, died Tuesday morning in a hospital in Phoenix.

Mr. Beckwith resided in Akron before moving to Phoenix years ago.

Mr. Beckwith is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jeanne Beckwith, his mother, Mrs. Edith Harig Beckwith Hervey of Akron, and two brothers, Capt. Carl Beckwith of San Fransico, Cal., and Glenn Beckwith of Akron.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at the Adams funeral home in E. Market St., Akron. The hour has not been determined. Interment will be made in an Akron cemetery.

The body is expected to arrive in Akron Thursday evening. (Transcribed by Ronn E. Friend).
