Howard Nix, better known to friends and family as "Happy" passed away at his residence on September 6, 2014 at the age of 92. Mr. Nix was a farmer and enjoyed being outside. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed riding them on his tractor. He attended Mountain Chapel Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by wife, Annie Luvenia Moore Nix; parents, Joseph and Willie Ann Mitchell Nix; and siblings, Ovie Nix, Carl Nix, Gladys Mason, Willa Jay Putman, Lola Mae Reeves, Dessie Mason, Mildred Moore, Annie Ruth Jordan, Ruby Jo Adams, Jewel Nix (infant), Mertis Goins and Hoyt Nix.
Mr. Nix is survived by son, Dennis Nix (Sandy) of Oneonta; grandchildren, Kristy Espy (Brian) of Millbrook and Paige Martin (Bo) of Oneonta; great grandchildren, Madeline Espy, John Espy, Tanner Martin and Tucker Martin; and caregivers, Steve Adams, Patty Phillips and Jayne Osborne.
Bro. Russell Dorset and Bro. Dwight Kidd will officiate funeral services on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 11AM from the Chapel of Lemley Funeral Home with burial following at Antioch Cemetery. Mr. Nix will lie in state at Lemley Funeral Home on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 5:30PM until 8PM and on Tuesday from 8AM until service time.
