Kate Ellison Anderson died August 6, 2014 in Fairfax, Virginia at the age of eighty-six.

Kate was born in Ogden, Utah on June 11, 1928 to Laurence E. Ellison and Catherine Maria Adams of Layton, Utah.

She was the precious wife of Robert B. Anderson of Reston, Virginia and the beloved mother of Maria L. A. Sickinger of Oak Hill, Virginia and Robert B. Anderson, Jr. of Studio City, California. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Dr. Paula Whiteman; grandchildren, Aaron and Dana Anderson; son-in-law, Ralph Sickinger; and sister, Carol E. Morgan.

Kate grew up in Layton, Utah, the youngest of six children. She attended Layton Elementary School and Davis High School. She graduated from the University of Utah with a Master's Degree in Spanish. Her love of foreign languages took her to study in Italy, Mexico, and Spain.

In 1956, Kate moved to Washington, DC to work for the CIA as a Polish translator. Kate and Robert were married in November 1958 and moved in 1966 to Reston, Virginia, where she raised her family. For several years in the early '70's, they lived in Paris, France while Robert worked for the U. S. Treasury Department.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Park Street Chapel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 275 Park Street, Layton, Utah.
She will be laid to rest following the services in the Kaysville Cemetery, Kaysville, Utah.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Reston, Virginia.
