Irva was the son of Jefferson and Emma KEITH McQuilkin. His father was 33 and his mother 26 at the time of his birth. He was the second of four children born to his parents.


He was married to my Great Aunt Mildred Mae Caple on April 4th, 1894 in Shawnee, Johnson, Kansas, USA. He was 26 years old and she was 19. They had eight children together in 16 years, and were married for 34 years before his death at the age of 61. At the time of his death Irvalle and Mildred had only 2 grandchildren. When Mildred died in 1948 they had seven grandchildren and one great grandson.

Topeka Realtor Dies at Home, 1608 Polk Street


Irva H. McQuilkin, 61, realtor, died at his home, 1608 Polk street, Friday afternoon, following a long illness. Mr. McQuilkin was born in Carroll county, Ohio, June 26, 1867. He moved to Topeka from Meriden eighteen years ago.


Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mildred McQuilkin; two sons, Earl McQuilkin, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Harold McQuilkin, of Topeka; five daughters, Mrs. Vera Scott, Mrs. Inez Hempstead, Miss Genevieve McQuilkin and Miss Geraldine McQuilkin, all of Topeka, and Mrs. Irene Lomax, of Cherryvale; his mother, Mrs. Emma McQuilkin, of Topeka; one brother, Grant McQuilkin, of Abilene; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Willoughby, of Denver, Col., and two grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Meriden United Brethren church. Burial will be in the Meriden cemetery.
