PNEUMONIA FATAL TO CLARENCE E. FREDERICK

Funeral and Burial Were Held Here Wednesday Afternoon

The funeral of Clarence "Sonny" Frederick, 32, who death occurred Sunday at a hospital in Oklahoma City, Ok., was held at the Christian (church) by the Rev. W.C. Whitehouse, and burial was in the King City cemetery (sic). The large crowd of King City, Grant City and St. Joseph people that braved bad roads and cold weather to attend the services attested the high esteem in which the former King City man was held.

Frederick was employed by a construction company in Oklahoma City when he became ill last week, apparently from a heart attack. He was taken to the Wesley hospital. His mother Mrs. M.O. Briggs of Grant City was summoned when pneumonia developed. The body was brought here Tuesday night to the Taggart mortuary where it lay in state until time for the funeral.

Clarence Edward Frederick was born July 17, 1910, in Union Star, but his parents brought him here when he was a small child and he grew to manhood in King City. He was graduated by the King City high school in 1928 and attended the Kansas state college at Manhattan, Kas., one year. He enlisted in the U.S. army and served twenty-two months in Hawaii as a member of the army engineer corps, receiving a disability discharge from the service at the end of that period.

Frederick was married in March 1934, to Miss Veronica McKenny, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. McKenny of near Ford City. They were the parents of four children, Charles, Joseph, Patrick and Kathleen, all of whom, with their mother, survive. The family had lived in Oklahoma several years and Mr. Frederick was engaged in engineering work for the federal government until a short time ago when he changed to a position with the Austin company, a concern engaged in completing a number of defense plants for the government.

Besides the wife and four children Mr. Frederick is survived by his step-father and his mother, Mr. and Mrs. M.O. Briggs of Grant City, a half-brother Marion Francis "Buster"Briggs of Grant Cit, nis (sic) maternal grandmother Mrs. Susan Snow of St. Joseph, and other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Frederick became a member of the Christian church here while he was a boy in high school and held the membership at the time of his death.
