George E. Born, Sr., age 89, of Gahanna and formerly of Whitehall, entered into eternal rest Thursday, September 4, 2014. He was born October 4, 1924 in Portsmouth, OH to the late George and Jessie Born.
He proudly served in the Army Air Corps prior to attending the University of Dayton. George retired from Owens-Illinois then enjoyed going to the Janis Center at the fairgrounds where he did lapidary and woodcarving.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Patricia Ann and sisters, Helen "Becky" Pinkston and Catherine McCoy.
George will be missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Jackie; children, Tara (Tom) Sesterhenn, George Edwin Born, Jr. (Barbara), Lisa (Woodrow) Allen, Malya (Scott) Scheibler, and Rachelle (Russ) Eidemiller; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Georgietta Ellis, Dorothy Buckle, and Janis (Richard) Munyon and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 3-6 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.), Gahanna, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd., Gahanna, Fr. Ryan Schmit, Celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
