∼Dewi David Washakie, 42 passed away at home surrounded by his family, Friday September 5, 2014. He was born June 23, 1972 in Pocatello, Idaho to Romer Dewi Washakie and Mary Dixey Washakie. Dewi attended I.T. Stoddard Elementary, Blackfoot Jr High, Fort Washakie Middle School and Blackfoot High School. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, helping family with the family farm, and watching movies, his favorite movie was the Lord of the Ring series. He participated in the traditional Sundance ceremony in Wyoming and Idaho. He is survived by his mother Mary Dixey Washakie of Blackfoot, his sisters Mary "Chix" Washakie of Blackfoot, Rebecca (Wayne) W. Cortez of Fort Hall, Claudia J. Washakie of Fort Hall, his nephew Joshua (Marci) Washakie of Blackfoot, his favorite niece Kalli (David) Edmo Johnson of Fort Hall, and Johnese P. Washakie of Fort Hall, and grandson Rylii West Washakie of Blackfoot. Uncle's/Aunts Richard Dixey Sr., Blaine Dixey, Allen Dixey all of Blackfoot, Russell Washakie, John (Bonnie) Washakie, Pat (Gail) Washakie, and Charles (Jo) Washakie all of Fort Washakie Wyoming. His aunts Marlene Dixey Lindroth, Ella Mae Dixey (Orville) Metz all Fort Hall Idaho. Essie (Jim) Washakie Skillings of Kinnear Wyoming, Gayle (Robert) Washakie Jacobs of Lander Wyoming and Josephine (Daniel) Washakie Abeyta of Fletcher Oklahoma.
Dewi was proceeded in death by his father Romer Dewi Washakie, paternal grandparents Dewi Zaunt Washakie and Nellie Nicol Washakie and maternal grandparents Richard Broncho Dixey Sr. and Mary Bonatsie Edmo Dixey and his great great uncle Johnny "Pavado" Treheo, Sundance Chief for the Eastern Shoshone in Wyoming and the Crow Tribe, Montana. Uncles Glen Dixey, Dennis G. Dixey of Fort Hall Idaho. Issac Washakie of Fort Washakie Wyoming, Jim Abeyta of Hudson Wyoming, and Edward Abeyta of Riverton Wyoming. Aunts Audrey Pennington Dixey of Bishop California, Sheila Washakie Abeyta of Riverton Wyoming.
Dewi will be taken to his mother's residence on North Diggie Road early Sunday morning September 7, 2014 and will remain there until prayer services on Monday September 8, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home. His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes to be placed in his favorite fishing areas of the Fort Hall Indian Reservation and on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.
