He served as mayor of Globe from 1950 to 1954. He lived in the area for 53 years, and was instrumental in organizing the Globe city government. He founded the Globe Chamber of Commerce, and was named Man of the Year in 1963. He was past president of the Miami Rotary Club, a member of Doric Lodge F&AM 26, past president of the Scottish Rite Lodge and a member of the Apache Shrine. He served three years as YMCA president, worked with Boy Scouts and spent 24 years serving as chairman of the Salvation Army board.

He was survived by his wife, Josephine; son, Raymond; sister, out of state; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
