Sara Joyce Arnett Torbett, 72, a lifelong resident of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Starr Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Reden Arnett and Mary Louise Steed Arnett.

During her lifetime, she was an employee at Athens Press, Athens Bed Company, The Daily Post-Athenian, Westinghouse, and WJSQ/WLAR. After continuing her education and becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse, she was an employee of Sweetwater
Hospital, Athens Community Hospital, and Life Care Center of Athens

She is survived by her husband, Robert Ralph Torbett; daughter and son-in-law, Pam Torbett Barnes and Patrick Barnes; son and daughter-in-law, Baron Torbett and Rebecca Torbett; brother and sister-in-law, Tom Arnett and Pam Arnett; six grandchildren, Amy Crabtree Jacquez, Hannah Carruth, John Torbett, Matthew Torbett, Ben James, and Sam Torbett; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter Watson, Dregan Jacquez, and Kayden Thomas.

Per her request, a private service was held at Cedar Springs Cemetery in Athens on Aug. 4, where special words were spoken by J. David Davis.
