Rudolfs Berzins was an opera singer, a well-respected soloist with the Latvian National Opera. He started singing with the Latvian National Opera in 1903 as a chorus member and became a soloist in 1919. Mr. Berzins also toured extensively with the opera, singing primarily in Germany. In 1940 he was teaching for the Latvian Conservatory in Riga, and in 1944 he became the artistic director of the Latvian Theater for opera and ballet.
