Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014, in Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle, N.C., with the Rev. Lanny Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory, Albemarle, N.C. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the hour of the service.
Born January 31, 1927, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry Walter Sikes and Evelyn Cathey Sikes.
She was a graduate of Badin High School and attended Pfeiffer College. She was a former teller with First National Bank and a member of Stony Hill Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lowder loved to read, doing needlework and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Forrest Lowder, on March 3, 2004.
Mrs. Lowder is survived by two sons, Phil W. Lowder of Albemarle, N.C. and Kevin F. Lowder of Conway, S.C.; one brother, Jack Sikes of Badin, N.C.; and one sister, Marie Haire of Albemarle, N.C.
