H. John Van Leeuwen, 76, of Hospers went to be with his Lord Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Orange City Municipal Hospital in Orange City, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers. Burial will be in Hospers Cemetery.
John served in the United States Army at the close of World War II and was stationed in Japan. He and Evelyn were married in Sheldon, Iowa, on July 28, 1948 and made their home in Hospers for 54 years. He was employed with Vogel Paint and Wax Company in Orange City, Iowa, as a truck driver for 31 years.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his children, Pat, Barb, Mary, Joel, Emily and Tom. This kind hearted grandfather is sadly missed by 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also mourning are his siblings, Kay, Joan, Betty, Corkie, and Jim.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda; his parents, Al and Agnes; his wife's parents, Peter and Mary Swets; a brother, Jake; and a sister, Joyce Beltman.
