Raymond V. Beck, 88, of Ogallala, died Saturday, February 19, 2005, in his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday February 22, 2005, in the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Stanley Morrison and LeRoy Sanford officiating.
He was born July 30, 1916, at Republic, Kansas, the son of Phillip and Mary (Feight) Beck. He attended schools and lived to adulthood in Republic County, Kan. He worked on the farm for his father and others until going into gospel work in 1939, spending the next six years doing gospel work in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas.
In June 1947, he married Emma Johnson, a school teacher from North Dakota. They lived in Washington, Colorado and Kansas before moving to North Dakota in 1960 to be near her sister.
While in North Dakota, he attended Valley City State College, graduating in 1968 with a degree in elementary education. He taught school until he became the full-time caregiver for his wife during the last years of her life.
During this time, he became the owner and caretaker of apartment houses. His wife died in February 1978.
On January 89, 1981, he married Margaret Hart. The couple moved to Ogallala in July 1982.
Through his lifetime, he had been employed in farming as a mechanic, school teacher, carpenter and apartment house owner as well as a caretaker for his first wife. He had faithfully participated in non-denominational Christian faith since his youth.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Ogallala and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma; two sisters, Elda Daugherty and Verda Florea.
