LIVINGSTON — Funeral services for Alton Coy Vaughn, 94, of Monterey, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Burial will be in Falling Springs Cemetery in the Allred Community of Overton County.

Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home.

Mr. Vaughn passed away on Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, 2014, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was born June 23, 1920, in Allred in Overton County to the late Hardy and Avo Ramsey Vaughn.

Mr. Vaughn grew up on the river in the Allred community. He served his country in World War II; he was in the Navy and participated in many battles in the Pacific. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Monterey. Mr. Vaughn was an outdoorsman who loved to spend time in his garden, where he grew vegetables and his award-winning flowers. He loved to fish and hunt.

His family includes his wife of 75 years, Uldean Ledbetter Vaughn of Monterey; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Edward and Brenda Vaughn of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Donnie Coy and Denise Vaughn of Greenfield, Ind.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Earl Floyd of Monterey and Mavis and Jack Giddens of Estill Springs; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Illa Vaughn Sciloff of Leavenworth, Wash., Etheleen Vaughn Oaks of Crossville and Evelyn Kay and Bob Garies of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, DeLowell and Betty Vaughn of Cookeville and Leopald and Kathy Vaughn of Port Orchard, Wash.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Bro. Bill Ledbetter will officiate at the services.
