Randy Allen Collins passed away April 4, 2014, at Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett, Texas. He was born on March 13, 1955, in Danville, Illinois to Jerry and Catherine (Hoosier) Collins. He spent his childhood in Racine, Wisconsin. He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1974, where he lettered in football and wrestling. He attended Dakota State College and the University of Sioux Falls, where he received his B.A. in Criminal Justice.

Randy married Lynn Unzicker on March 25, 1977, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Together they raised four fabulous and gifted children. Randy spent his career in the field of Corrections and Security. He served as a correctional officer in both South Dakota and Texas for almost 20 years. For the last decade he worked in the hotel security industry and at the time of his death, was employed by Sentry Security and Investigations. He was an avid collector of Marvel comic books and elephant figurines. He loved old cartoons, western movies and television, museums, art, Phantom of the Opera, and Edgar Allen Poe. He was a humble and dedicated family man who treasured his children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife Lynn of 37 years, his sons Jon Michael (Katie) Collins, and Scott Allen Collins and daughters, Quincy Catherine Collins-Smith (Russell Garrett) and Cassidy Lynn Collins; his beloved and cherished grandchildren, Ryan Jon Collins, Savannah Catherine Smith, Ashlynne Diane Collins, Malone Jameson Smith, and Miles Collin Smith.

He is also survived by his brothers, Kenneth Lewis (Teppet), Jerry Collins and Stephen Collins (Mina), and sisters Ginger Collins and Kathy Walker. Randy will also be missed by his nephews, Carlton Collins, Jermaine Walker, Kyle Unzicker; Riley Unzicker, Rex Unzicker and Leyton Unzicker; nieces, Alicia Walker, Aisha Bates, Chelsea Collins, Destiny Corkle and Sarah Collins along with their families. He will also be missed by his brother-in-laws, Thomas Unzicker, Todd Unzicker (Ellyn), James Unzicker and his partner Leroy White Mountain, sister-in-law, Connie Unzicker and cousin-in-law, Jane Schneer (Lee).

He was proceeded in death by his half-brother, Melvin Lewis, sister-in-law, Myla Collins, father, Jerry Daniel Collins, mother, Catherine Collins, mother-in-law(s) Sharon Denise Unzicker, and Carol Renetta “Rae” Unzicker, father-in-law James Lee Unzicker, brother-in-law David Files Unzicker (Linda), and nephew, Jordan Quin Scull.

Randy had a laugh that filled the room with love and warmth. His wish to all that knew and loved him is to Stay Strong of Mind and Heart.
