Michael E. Hood, 67, of Oakland, TN, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. He was born in Memphis on September 5, 1946 to L.M. and Dorothy Gipson Hood. Mr. Hood was retired from Colonial Bakery after 31 years of service and Landscape Creations after 13 years, was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his yard. Mr. Hood, the husband of Elsa (Manci) Hood also leaves his three daughters and sons in law, Lori and Dana Wimmer, Jennifer and Tom Cowing and Amanda and Sean McCawley; six granddaughters, Jessica, Rachel, Mallory, Meredith, Natalie and Emily; two grandsons, Mason and Conner; four brothers, Charles Hood, Ronald Hood, Donald Hood, and Fred Mason; and four sisters, Mary Lou Brewington, Denell Rodgers, Laura Goyette and Patty Haggerty. A celebration of his life will be Friday afternoon, September 5 at 1 p.m. at Grace Church of the Nazarene. Family and friends will gather beginning at 12 noon. Entombment will follow in the Nativity Mausoleum in Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either Grace Church of the Nazarene, 8979 E.
