DAVENPORT - Services for Alton L. "Swede" Aronson, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Alton died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He retired as a shop foreman at Alter and Sons Inc., Davenport, in 1985, after working there for 46 years. He was born June 4, 1920, in Lockridge, Iowa, to Ernest A. and Addie J. (Carlson) Aronson. He married B. Alice West on May 24, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. Alton was very talented and had many hobbies. He was a member and officer of Court Harmony and the Independent Order of Foresters for the past 30 years. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed his family and grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Judy I. Maynard, Davenport, Gail A. Timmerman and her husband Russell, Bettendorf, Pam J. Gealy and her husband Fred, Bettendorf, and Angie R. Aronson, Bettendorf; sons, Harlan R. "Butch" Aronson and his wife Julie, Lyons, Colo., Greg A. Aronson, Paris, Ill., and Ernie E. Aronson and his wife Gina, Clinton, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Fern Martin, Fairfield, Iowa, Lillian Thornburg, Salem, Iowa, and Evelyn Whiting, Salem; and brothers, Ivan Aronson, Blue Grass, Iowa, and Harlan Aronson, Bettendorf. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mahlon and Verdon.
