MIDWAY, WASATCH COUNTY – funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Midway for LeRoy K. Mitchell, 47, Midway, who died Saturday of cancer in a Salt Lake hospital.

He was born Dec. 23, 1924 in Kamas, Summit County, a son to Hardy Dean and Letha Yates Mitchell. On March 10, 1949, he married Verda (Dolly) Taylor in Evanston, Wyo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was a member of Operating Engineers Union No. 3; and a crane operator. He coached little league baseball and Utes basketball eight years. A veteran of World War II, he was a recipient of the Bronze Star.

Surviving him are his widow, two sons and a daughter, Wayne Mitchell, Garth Mitchell, and Linda Mitchell, all of Midway; brothers and a sister, Dean Mitchell, Kearns; Norman Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, both of Salt Lake City; Clarence Mitchell and Francis Mitchell, both of Summit County; and Mrs. LeRoy (Virginia) Sweat, Center Creek, Wasatch County.

The funeral will be held at the Midway 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Olpin Mortuary, Heber, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday prior to services. Burial will be in the Midway Cemetery.
