Frederick (or Fritz as he was called in early years) Jacob Hofheinz was born on September 17, 1878, in Illinois to Christian and Fanny AuFranc Hofheinz.

The family moved to Hays County, Texas when Fritz was a baby. In 1906 he worked in Dallas as a driver for Wells Fargo and Company Express. He moved south to Beaumont with Wells Fargo and married Nonie Planchard on May 12, 1908. They lived on Wall Street in Beaumont with Nonie’s sisters Louise and Itha and Itha’s husband Walter Bell. Fritz worked as a warehouse foreman for the Texas and New Orleans Railroad.

On April 10, 1912 they had a son, Roy Mark. Fred worked as a store keeper for Lone Star Shipping. In the mid 1920s, the family moved to Houston. Fred worked as a driver for a laundry company. He fractured his skull on August 11, 1928 and died 4 days later on August 15.
