Long Pond Community - Mrs. Helen Fountain McArthur, age 91 of the Long Pond Community, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after a sudden illness. She was a native of Mt. Vernon, and lived in Long Pond most of her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Long Pond Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Lee McArthur; parents, C.B. and Martha Ann Millie Palmer Fountain; brother, David Fountain; and sister, DeAlva Fountain.
Mrs. McArthur is survived by her daughter, Allie M. Rhodes and husband C.J. of Long Pond; three sisters, Anita "Ludy" Fountain Thompson of Griffin, Betty Jo Fountain and June Fountain both of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Thomas Alan McArthur Rhodes, Jimmy Rhodes, and Heather Rhodes Fowler; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Simon and Rev. Adrian Bell officiating. Burial will follow in the Dead River Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
