Claude "Lewis" Smethers, 65, went to be with Jesus on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel. Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood. Lewis was born Dec. 19, 1948, in Fort Worth. He was a hardworking, dedicated family man who enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Survivors: Wife of 46 years and 10 months, Marsha Smethers; son, Scott Smethers and wife, Misty; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Samuel Smethers; brother, Robert Spurgeon and wife, Debbie; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
