John W. Clemmons, 55, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away from natural causes on July 20. He was a retired Army Sergeant Major who served over 28 years prior to his retirement in 1994. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, one with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and one with the 101st Airborne Division. His awards and decorations included the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and Airborne Qualification Wings. He was the son of Curtis (deceased) and Aleene Clemmons of Clarksville, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Crystal of Colorado Springs; daughter, Courtney of Colorado Springs; daughters, Daniele, Rhonda, and Aimee of Washington State; five grandchildren; and brothers, Michael of Whiteville, North Carolina, Steven of Purcellville, Virginia, Van of Cunningham, Tennessee, and Ronald of Tennesse Ridge, Tennessee. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 4:30 p.m., on Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses in Colorado Springs.
