FORESTPORT - Mrs Mary E. Johnson, 74, who lived at 415 Bleeker Street, Utica, before entering Sunset- Nursing Home, Boonville, died at the nursing home on Monday afternoon, April 4, 1983. Mrs. Johnson had been a patient at the nursing home since March 22.
Born in Johnstown, New York on January 19, 1909, she was the daughter of Philip and Florence Duesler Palmateer. Her younger life was spent in Johnsville, where she graduated
from high school. Mrs. Johnson had been employed in the knitting mills in Johnstown and Gloversville before moving to Utica, where she lived on Armory Drive until moving to
Bleeker Street. She was a member of the M and L Club, the East Utica Seniors and the Up and Go Senior ClubForestport.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Katheryn E. Cross, Forestport, Miss Harriet Palmateer, Binghamton and Mrs. Anna Yost, Johnsonville, three brothers, Clarence Palmateer of Orlando, Florida, George Palmateer and Everette Palmateer, both of Gloversville.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at the Traor Funeral Home, Boonville, where Rev. S. David Brettell, pastor of the Forestport Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Interment will be made in Ferndale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
