Born in Licking County,Ohio, George moved to Iowa, then to Missouri in the 1850s. He served in the Civil War, then returned to Macon and married Sarah (Sally) Fox. They had three children, George Percy, Benjamin and Clarence. Clarence died shortly after birth, and Sarah died shortly after that.

A couple of years later George married Sarah's sister, Miranda. They had four children, Jeannette, Claude, Helen and Samuel. They eventually moved to Wichita, Kansas. After George died, his body was returned to Macon and buried next to Sarah.

Claude Glaze, son of George and Miranda, died in 1916 and is buried next to George and Sarah. Benjamin, son of George and Sarah, who died in 1927, is buried next to Miranda in California.

Also buried in the cemetery are several members of the Fox family, including Sarah's parents, Mary Burkhead and Samuel Fox.

George was mayor of Macon 1872-1874. He was on the city council in Wichita in the late 1880s and early 1890s.

The dates on the memorial stone for George (1841-1893) are incorrect. According to his death certificate and newspaper articles about his death, the correct dates are 1840-1892.
