Funeral services for George W. Frankum, who died at the home of his son, C.J. Frankum, here Monday, December 23, were held Tuesday at the Pentecostal-Holiness Church in this city Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. A.H. Downs of Pascola officiating. Interment was made in Little Prairie Cemetery, Caruthersville.
The deceased was 82 years one month and 6 days old. His death resulted in a fall last Saturday in which he broke his left hip. He fell as he started to seat himself at his son's table for breakfast that morning. He was rushed to Presnell Hospital, Kennett, but doctors there indicated that there was little hope for his recovery because of his advanced age, so he was brought back home on Sunday.
Pallbearers at the funeral were Elmer Lewis, Neeley Mitchell, Les Curtis, George Klinkhardt Jr., and Bon Countess, all members of the Hayti Fire Department, and Sherman Hill.
George Frankum was born in Obion County, Tenn., in 1864, moving to Pemiscot County when he was 52 years old. His wife preceded him in death in 1942.
He and Mrs. Frankum had made their home with their son, C.J., driver of the Hayti fire truck and Finch Frankum, a farmer. Also surviving are four grandsons and four granddaughters.
