Funeral services were held March 12, 1979 for Ada V. Schumann, age 85, at the Varina United Methodist Church. Rev. James Noseworthy officiated the 10:30 a.m. service.
Mrs. Bill Baughman was organist and Mrs. Ine Krogstad pianist. Mrs. Duane Horner and Mrs. Robert Degner sang a duet.
Flowers were cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Ine Krogstad.
Bearers were Craig Schumann, Rex Schumann, Drew Schumann, Scott Schumann, Dale Schumann and Steve Trost.
Interment was in the Varina Cemetery under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home of Albert City.

ADA VICTORIA SCHUMANN
1893-1979
Ada Victoria Rosene Schumann was born on September 18, 1893 at Marathon, Iowa. She was the fourth of ten children born to Petrina Wasnuth and Per Otto Rosene. Ada was baptized at the Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon.
Ada attended the Marathon School and graduated in 1911. She worked as a telephone operator in Marathon and worked in the grocery store in Varina.
On June 30, 1918, Ada was united in marriage with LuVerne Schumann at Marathon. During their married years they lived in Coon Township, Buena Vista County, in Dover Township, Pocahontas County, and in Albert City.
Four children were born to Ada and LuVerne. They are Frederick of Pipestone, Minnesota, William, who was killed in 1944 in World War II; Darrell of Albert City, and Marlyn of Newell.
Ada was a Lifetime Member of the United Methodist Women, and a member of the Varina United Methodist Church.
Ada spent the last year at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.
Ada Victoria Rosene Schumann died on March 9, 1979 at the Buena Vista County Hospital, at the age of 85 years, 5 months, 21 days.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters, her husband, and one son.
Ada is survived by a brother, Walter Rosene of Marathon, a sister, Martha, Mrs. L. R. Murry of Laurens, three sons and their wives, Frederick and Laura Mae of Pipestone, Minnesota, Darrell and Jo of Albert City, Marlyn and Mavis of Newell, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Her family and her friends will miss Ada's presence. They all give thanks for her love of family and friends.
