Andersen - Nielsine Caroline Andersen, daughter of Jens and Karen Jensen, was born April 17, 1884, at Smidstrup, Denmark, where she spent her childhood and received her education. On February 28, 1907, she was united in marriage with Niels Andersen. Two children, Carlo and Helmer, were born to them in Denmark. In the fall of 1913 her husband came to America and started work as a blacksmith at Wolbach, Nebraska. A few months later Mrs. Andersen and the two children joined him. In 1918 Andrew Peterson, who later was connected with Maplewood Academy at Maple Plain, brought the faith of the Seventh-day Adventist church to the Andersens. Until her death she remained true to her faith and lived a good Christian life. Because they were isolated the Andersen family joined the Seventh-day Adventist conference church and a Sabbath school was organized in their home. For three or four years 30 or 40 people met with them every week. During their residence in Wolbach, two more children, Norma and Egan, were born. In 1925 the family moved to North Bend, Nebraska, and shortly after to Maple Plain, Minnesota. When the Maple Plain Seventh-day Adventist church was organized, Mrs. Andersen was one of the first deaconesses appointed, which position she held as long as her health permitted. She fell asleep in Jesus on August 14, 1958, aged 74 years. She is survived by her husband, Niels; three sons: Carlo of Wilmar, Helmer of Maple Plain, and Egan of Wayzata; one daughter: Mrs. Harold (Norma) Starkey of Maple Plain; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. There are four brothers, Frans, Jens, Nels, and Thorvald Jensen living in Denmark.
