MOUNT GILEAD: John H. Patterson, Jr., 62, of County Road 78, Mount Gilead, died in his home Sunday morning, December 7, 2003, following a long illness.
He was born November 19, 1941 in Galion, to John, Sr. and Vivian M. (Daugherty) Patterson and was graduated from Ontario High School with the class of 1959.
He formerly drove school bus for Lexington School System and sold John Deere machinery, and truly loved farming.
John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, June Faye (Raney) Patterson, whom he married September 21, 1963; his mother, Vivian M. Patterson Hunsinger, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean H. and Lori S. Patterson and Keith A. and Brenda L. Patterson, all of Mount Gilead; three daughters and a son-in-law, Diane F. Murray, Karen S. Patterson, and Brenda K. and Keith Smith, all of Mount Gilead; nine grandchildren, Brandon Patterson, Allen Patterson, Karalee Patterson, Brandon Neyman, Erika Murray, Emily Murray, Justin Murray, Kameron Smith and Kolton Smith; a brother Roy Thomas “Tom” Patterson of Lexington; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patti and Larry Robbins of Oceanside, California and Peggy Williamson of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 9, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 am. Evangelist Russell Tague will officiate. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
