BANGOR – Jerome Irving "Jerry" Harford, died August 23, 2014 in Bangor, ME from complications following prostate cancer. He was 64. Jerry was born on September 13, 1949, in Belfast, ME to his parents, William and Frances Harford. He graduated from the Belfast Area High School in 1968 where he played football, basketball and baseball. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Air Force from 1968 – 1972. Jerry was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoying many trips to Fenway Park with his "grandson", Tyler Hatch, to cheer them on in person.

Jerry is survived by his life partner, Sherlene Leavitt of Bangor, ME; his beloved siblings, Ronald and wife Maxine Harford of Belmont, Marcia Harford of Bangor, Jeffrey and wife Janet Harford of Belton, TX, William and wife Pamela Harford of Newport Beach, CA, Joni and husband Richard J Smith of Litchfield, Ethel and husband Russell Whitcomb of Belfast, and Stephen and wife Jane Harford of Swanville;. step-siblings, Phyllis Brooks of Milford, Robert and wife Betty Keating of Winterport and Edward and wife Karen Keating of Scarlett Mill, PA. He will be fondly remembered by Sherlene's daughter, Christi Hatch and her husband, Bob. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Frances, and step mother, Albertina Harford.

Jerry will be buried in Grove Cemetery, Belfast. A graveside service will take place at a later date to be determined by his family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Arrangments by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. (Bangor Daily News 8/30/2014)
