The Westerly Church (later called the First Hopkinton Church) became the leading Seventh Day Baptist congregation in the United States, with 764 members by 1800 [5]. These congregations maintained a good relationship with the Rhode Island Baptists who met on Sunday.
James Covey and Mary are both listed as members of this church. Most of the members were also his neighbors, as land deals were made between them.
