Jeffrey Ackil, age 61, of Michigan City, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at his home with his family by his side.
Jeffrey was born on March 18, 1953, in Michigan City, IN to Earl Ackil and Marian (Santow) Ackil, who preceded him in death. On December 18, 1981, he married Cathy (Flegel) Ackil in Michigan City, Indiana.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife: Cathy (Flegel) Ackil; children: Jihan and Jordan Ackil; brother: James (Kay) Ackil; sisters: Judi Hennard, Joan Wiese, and Juliana Ackil; several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was a graduate of Columbia College Film School. He was also a camera assistant for Paul Marshall Studio in Chicago. Jeff was a member of International Photographers Local 666 IATSE. Jeff worked on the film camera crew for several movies which include Backdraft, Rudy, Uncle Buck, and Wayne’s World, to name a few.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN and on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Geisen-Carlisle.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Ash of First Church of God in LaPorte officiating.
