A memorial service for Betty Jean Genre, age 80, of Westhope, was held on Tuesday January 26, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope. Officiating at the service was Mark Frueh and Pastor John Scott. Don and Darlene Cameron provided special music. Honorary casket bearers were Betty’s grandsons, Chad Sailor, Sean Sailor, Chris Sebastian, Derrake Sebastian, Dusty Sebastian, Tyler Genre, Brad Bethke and Cole Bethke.

Betty Jean Genre, a daughter of Lee and Gladys (Sandry) Love, was born on August 6, 1929 at Rugby. She was reared and educated in Rugby.

On January 25, 1948, she married Alvin Genre on the Genre Ranch near Towner. They lived on the Genre Ranch until moving to Westhope in 1955. They lived in Westhope until 1987 when they moved to Arizona. Betty managed an apartment complex in Arizona until moving back to Westhope in 1992.

Betty was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Betty never turned down a game of pinochle and she lived every day to the fullest.

Betty passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at a Minot hospital following a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Al of Westhope; daughters, Pamela (Mitch) Myhre of Minot, Lynette (Vern) Moses of Westhope and Kristi Bethke of Towner; son, Wade Genre of Minot; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Jim Love of Madison, WI; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Liz Love of Minot, Don (Marlys) Genre of Towner, Dan Genre of Carrington, Lucille Genre of Towner and Betty Lou Genre of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob and Bill Love; son, Warren Lee Genre and daughter, Shelly Sebastian.
