Emy Lou was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, and a former member of Immanuel Ladies Aid 3. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She made clothes and numerous afghans for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, taking care of her flowers and working in her yard.
Born Dec. 21, 1931, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Fred and Selma Tiemeier Wehmiller, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Melvin Wischmeier on April 30, 1950, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown. He survives in Seymour.
Other survivors include three sons, Loren (Elizabeth) Wischmeier and Roger (Patricia) Wischmeier, both of Seymour, and Denver (Danielle) Wischmeier of Mooresville; one daughter, Sandra (Brent) Kilgas of Seymour; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Wischmeier; one sister, Donna (Robert) Downing of Vallonia; three sisters-in-law, Helen Wehmiller and Marcella Wischmeier, both of Seymour, and Jewell Wehmiller of Crothersville; 11 grandchildren, Casie (Misty) Wischmeier, Amanda (Wes) Konkle, B.J. (Aby) Wischmeier, Jeremy (Denise) Wischmeier, Jessica (Chris) Bailey, John (Cheyenne) Wischmeier, Denee Wischmeier (fiance Corey Lecher), Dillen Wischmeier, Caden Wischmeier, Stephanie Kilgas (Matt Meyers) and Mitchell Kilgas; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kelsey, Kailey and Kera Wischmeier, Avalee Konkle, Evan and Adalyn Wischmeier, Wyatt and Zoe Wischmeier, Braden and Coltin Bailey, and Lexi and Ivey Wischmeier; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Wischmeier; two sisters, Julia (Arthur) Bishop and Gladys Wehmiller; and two brothers, Lester and Ivan Wehmiller.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch, the Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez and Vicar Daniel Merz officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Seymour.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran School, Trinity Lutheran High School or Lutheran Community Home.
