DRYDEN — Brent Allen Armitage's courageous two-year battle with cancer ended on Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at home in Dryden, with his wife by his side. He was 36 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda L. (Worden) Armitage; his son, Christopher; and his daughter, Courtney; his parents, Lewis and Winnifred Armitage of Bradenton, Fla.; his sister, Sandy (Jim) Grover of Sarasota, Fla.; his brother, Gary (Diane) Armitage of Decatur, Texas; two nephews, Tyler and Sam; and two nieces, Emma and Audrey.

Brent was also loved dearly by his extended family: Lee and Shirley Worden of Guilford, Denise, Jennifer and Elizabeth Georgia; Debra, Wayne, Eric and Scott McHenry; Fred, Lori, Amy and Jamie Worden; David, Ashley and Melissa Worden; and Jonathon, Justin, Jonny and Jeffrey Worden.

Brent was born on Dec. 6, 1965, in Sidney.

He graduated from Sidney Central School in 1984. Brent attended Clarkson University in Potsdam, and received his bachelor's degree in 1988.

He and Brenda were married at the First Baptist Church in Sidney, on May 6, 1989.

Brent was employed by Borg Warner Morse TEC since November 1992, and during that time served the organization in the positions of quality supervisor, quality manager, production manager, materials manager and, most recently, manager of business systems. Brent had the fortunate opportunity to travel worldwide for his work, including the countries of Italy, Japan, Korea and Mexico. Brent strived to achieve goals he set for himself and for the company, and hoped to return to work to continue his career.

Brent was extremely skilled at woodworking, as is evident in the work in his home.

He had a passion for downhill skiing and enjoyed taking Christopher along.

A helper indeed, he loved to give a hand to friends in need.

Brent participated in the community program, Leadership Tompkins, and he served on the Board of Directors of the Dryden Teachers' Center at Dryden Central School.

While the last two years of his life were overshadowed with cancer, Brent filled his days with his unending love for his wife and children. He fully appreciated the time he had, but longed for many more years to share with his family.

He will watch over his family from Heaven where he is now at peace and enduring no more pain.

Brent was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dryden and strongly believed in his faith in God, especially during his illness.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church in Dryden.

Burial will be at the Willow Glen Cemetery at a later date.

A college fund for Brent's children has been established. Friends who wish to contribute may send their gift to HSBC Bank USA, c/o L. Parker, 2315 N. Triphammer Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 for the Christopher and Courtney Armitage College Fund.

Memorial gifts may also be made to: The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden, P.O. Box 42, Dryden, NY, or to the Family House Organization through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which served as a home away from home during Brent's many treatments: Family House Shadyside, 5245 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA, 15232.
