WEBSTER- Dorothy Schimmel, 69 of Webster died on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Bethesda Home in Webster.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 6, 2006 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster, burial will be at St. Otto's Cemetery, Webster.

Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday 1-4 P.M. then continuing at the church with a scriptural prayer service at the church Sunday at 7:00 P.M.

Dorothy Jean Block was born on Friday, January 22, 1937 to Sylvester and Constance (Oslowski) Block, Sr. at Waubay, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm near Grenville and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School. and then moved to Webster where she worked at Bain's Café.

On September 27, 1955 she married Gerald Schimmel at Webster, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home and farm near Butler. In the early 1960's they moved to Webster. She worked for many years at Dakotah, Inc. In the early 1980's she began a daycare center in her home and took care of children until 1993 when she went to work at Mike's Jack & Jill where she was bakery manager until her retirement in 2003. She entered Bethesda Home in Webster in February 2006.

Her interests included cooking, pheasant hunting, bingo, gardening, going to the casino and visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid supporter of her grandkids at their sporting events.

Dorothy passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 10 days.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald of Webster, SD; one son, Greg (Amber) Schimmel of Webster, SD; one daughter, Dawn (Shawn) Rithmiller of Webster, SD; six brothers, Roger Block and Rick (Diane) Block both of Wallace, SD, Ron (Doria) Block, Allan (Claudette) Block and Sylvester (Donna) Block, Jr. all of Watertown, SD and Wayne (Shelly) Block of Madison, SD; eight sisters, Ramona (Rich) Whitlock of Watertown, SD, Vicki Schimmel of Webster, SD, Patricia Kinkner of Sioux Falls, SD, Wanda (Walt) Antijunti of Arlington, SD, Bridgette Buffkin of Greensea, SC, Audrey (Ron) Antijunti of Bradley, SD, Becky (Dave) Marsh of Watertown, SD and Denise (Ron) Wulf of Kulm, ND; and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
