Kelly Ray Stroud Sr.FLORENCE -- Kelly Ray Stroud, Sr., 85, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the McLeod Hospice House.Mr. Stroud was born in Hickory, NC, a son of the late Elmer Alexander and Eula Douglass Stroud. He was a member of our nation's greatest generation, having served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Stroud retired from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation as a long haul truck driver. He was a member of Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church and an avid golfer.He is preceded in death in addition to his parents, by a grandson, David Carter, four brothers, and two sisters.Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ellen Young Stroud; three sons, Kelly Ray (Sherree) Stroud, Jr. of Lincolnton, NC, Ronald Stephen Stroud of Florence, and Douglas Wayne (Susan) Stroud of Carlstadt, NJ; a daughter, Libby Stroud (Tim) Carter of Effingham; brother, Carroll (Jean) Stroud of Jensen Beach, FL; seven granddaughters; two step-grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, August 28, 2014 in the chapel of Cain Funeral Home. Burial will follow with military honors in the Florence National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502 or to the Gideons Bibles, Florence Gideons East, P.O.
