ED PEVERLEY FUNERAL SET MONDAY

Funeral services for Ed B. Peverley, 73, prominent retired businessman, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church. The Rev. J. Stanley Fixter minister of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Rawlins cemetery.

Peverley died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday in Carbon County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for several weeks. He had been in ill health for a number of years. **

He was born in Spring Hill, Iowa, Dec. 31, 1887, and grew up in Kansas. However, he spent most of his life in Wyoming.

He first came to Wyoming in
(cont. on last page) 1912 and owned and operated a barber shop in Green River, Wyoming.

Peverley served in the Army during World War I from 1918 to 1919, part of the time in England and France. After the war he returned to Green River, where he lived until 1920. He then returned to his parents' home in Kansas for a few years.

He came to Rawlins, Wyoming in 1927 and after working a year he took over the Ferris Hotel Barber Shop, May 1, 1927 and operated it for 29 years, until he retired in 1956 because failing health.

Peverley was married to the former Miss Ruth Rebecca Downing in Kansas on June 9, 1926.

He was an active church and fraternal worker in Rawlins until his health forced him to curtail his activities.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Peverley received his 50-year membership pin from the Masonic Lodge earlier this year, was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

He was a member of Rawlins Lodge No. 5 AF&AM, Garfield Chapter No. 4, Royal Arch Masons, Ivanhoe Commandery No. 2 Knights Templar, Korein Temple of the Shrine, Wyoming Chapter No. 7 OES, and also the BPOElks Lodge No. 609 and the American Legion Post 22.

He was a past potentate of the
Shrine, past commander of the
commandery, past high priest of
the RAM, past patron of the OES,
and past commander of the local
Legions post. He was also active I
in the Korein band and served
as the band leader manager for several years.

He was interested in his hobbie of music and gardening.

Survivers include his widow of the home, 1208 W. Jeffers Dr.; a son, George E., who is director of information for the Wyoming Farm Bureau in Laramie, and his wife; two granddaughters, Brigitta and Rebecca both of Laramie; two brothers, Lowell and William B., both of Geneseo, Kan.; three sisters, Julia Orm, Geneseo and Joanna Miller and Dorothy Peverley, both of Little River, Kan.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Another brother, H. D. (Pete) Peverley, died earlier this year.

The family has said that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital. Rasmusson-Shriner Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
